It was at least 10-12 years ago when I first encountered The Frenchman’s Corner. I had only actually been to Culpeper a handful of times and mostly it was just driving through, never really stopping. That is when the greatest opportunity for my future career became a reality. When we sat down for lunch I remember looking across the street and seeing this fantastic kitchen store. The light bulb went on inside my head and that of my spouse and we said to one another, “We need to do this or we will forever regret it.” I love to cook and kitchen stores. We walked in an I was immediately hooked. Then, I walked through an archway inside the store into another smaller space where they also sold chocolate. I remember being so surprised by this find. Needless to say, I went back as often as I could. As the E. Davis Street area developed and became the thriving shopping and foodie scene that it is today, we started eating here all the time and doing most or our shopping in Culpeper on a regular basis.
A little over five years ago, we made the move to Culpeper and we have never really looked back. The people are very friendly and we were able to build genuine friendships with the shop owners on E. Davis Street. That is when the greatest opportunity for my future, no current career became reality. Over dinner with the founders of The Frenchman’s Corner, they revealed that they were planning to sell the boutique. The light bulb went on inside my head and my spouse and I said to one another, we need to do this or we will forever regret it. So, we had a brief discussion with the founders of the boutique, made a deal and now I run the most beautifully appointed chocolate boutique in the Virginia Piedmont area. It really is a dream come true.
