October is one of my favorite months out of the year. Some of the dearest people in my life have birthdays that we get to celebrate. The weather starts to make a noticeable change to cooler more comfortable temperatures. Sometimes, we grab that throw on the sofa to cover up with because we are a little chilly. That also gives us a good excuse to cuddle up with our loved ones, like my spouse and our three dogs.
It is also the time of year that many start to prepare for a fun and haunting Halloween. People start putting their Halloween costumes together, put out the witches, ghosts and ghouls in the yard, or the front porch. In downtown Culpeper, Virginia, we prepare for the big Trick or Treat event on East Davis St on Halloween night, October 31st. It is a great family event with children and adults alike dressed in their favorite costume for the year. Even some of the officers from the Culpeper Police Department join in the fun, dressing up while overseeing the event to make sure everyone is safe and has a fun time. Merchants and restaurants hand out candy to all of the kids. It’s just a great way to spend some time with the local community.
